Greater Manchester Cyber Foundry Conference 2019: Summary

More than 70 delegates, thought leaders, law enforcement personnel, government representatives and industry practitioners came from around the UK to the inaugural GM Cyber Foundry Defend, Innovate, Growd (DIG) Conference 2019, a half-day conference to promote the work of the GM Cyber Foundry in driving the adoption of Cyber Security as a vehicle for innovation and growth in the SME community.
The conference was jointly organised by The University of Manchester’s Digital Futures team and Brian Higgins – UoM Cyber Foundry Project Manager. The line-up of keynote speakers and workshop hosts comprised of leading academic and industry experts in Cyber Security, Intelligence and Information Assurance, and the afternoon provided a platform for the SME community of Greater Manchester to connect and share their experiences and expertise. The organisers would like to extend their thanks to all of the speakers for contributing their expertise and presenting such a diverse range of topics and resources.

Professor Barrett is the University of Manchester’s strategic lead for Digital Trust and Security, which involves bringing together and developing expertise across the University around issues such as cybersecurity, privacy, data protection, governance, cryptography, cyber-dependent & enabled crimes and criminals and digital vulnerability to crime.
Emma is also Principal Investigator for the EPSRC’s Digital Economy NetworkPLus on Security, Privacy, Identity and Trust (SPRITE+) which launched in September 2019.
