Research Associate – Manchester Metropolitan University
Dr Sammar Javed is a Research Associate currently working on ERDF Funded GM Cyber Foundry and PrintCity Network projects to develop and implement Evaluations. She joined Man Met on 1 April 2020 for RKE funded project worth £32,657 for sustainability and growth of a manufacturing company Deluxe Beds Ltd. she was successful in bidding and implementing projects on marketing strategy development, leadership and HR development and technological upgrades through Winning Pitch, LEP, Digital Enterprise, and Manufacturing Growth Program. During the project duration of 6 months, she was successful in bringing direct savings of £219,952 including a winning management KTP bid worth £171,657. She ensured business continuity from multiple perspectives including physical security plan, information flow from/to team, cash flow management, strategic development, change towards safe working environment, resuming operations plan, bringing production back to the required level, customers and suppliers management along other stakeholders, corporate social responsibility, H&S management, employee furlough and return management, wellbeing consultations, managing conflicts in the high stress environment, sales order management, planning for business sustainability, planning team expansion and required recruitment, remote working, systems upgrades and databases development.
Previously, Sammar successfully completed Knowledge Transfer Partnership Project of Huddersfield Business School and Deluxe Beds Ltd, with focus on process innovation utilising SCRUM. The project brought funding’s and savings of over £1.8M exceeding the defined 5 year targets. Along this KTP project of worth £132,000, Sammar has achieved successful bids of £216,504.64 including Future Fashion Factory £56,000, Digital Enterprise top 100 for Deluxe Beds, Digital Voucher, LEP, RTC north, Winning Pitch, Department of International Trade (DIT), Collaborative Venture Fund (CVF), Supply Chain Funding etc.
Sammar have vast experience of professional and academic research. She started her career from a Pakistani think tank before joining academia in UK. She has participated in over 25 research studies, articles, book chapters and reports as well as presented widely on her topics internationally to diverse audience. Her research interests are: Innovation, knowledge and operations management, manufacturing SMEs, leadership and diversity management, culture and change management. Sammar’s academic research expertise are backed by industrial experience and research coordination at a think tank. Her early postdoc career had been in a craft’s based manufacturing SME within a niche cottage bedding industry, through academic collaboration over funded projects.
